Happy to see a photograph clicked by me at Kalka Railway Station, on my way to Shimla by the toy train, being featured in a news article related to train delays.
This frame brings back a story.
There was a famous train called Kalka Mail. It would almost always reach late at Old Delhi station, but it would still manage to reach almost on time at Kalka station — so that passengers could catch the connecting toy train to Shimla. That spirit of keeping the connection alive always fascinated me.
Today, to see the same station and the same journey featured in an article where a student fought for compensation due to train delay and won — feels very contextual.
Indeed, timely trains are not just about punctuality, they are about someone’s exam, someone’s journey, someone’s dream.
