Desert Culture Center is the place to visit when you are visiting Jaisalmer. It has museum and theater for Kuthputli dance i.e. puppet dance. I happened to meet 87 years young Mr. N.K. Sharma who founded the Deser Culture Center. His only vision is to preserve the local desert culture. And in order to attain his vision, he has started deser culture center.
His only worry is that teach driven society i.e. social media influence is extinguishing the local culture and very soon puppet dance will disappear as form of folklore. Which once used to entertain people in masses.
He is running the center on his own without any government aid. Though inaugurated by honorable vice president of India shree K. R. Narayan in 1997.
Kudos to his spirit. One must learn from him about devotion to art.
